What about practices and age:

Do children have practices?

Are practices more part of adult life?

Several people I talked to in their 40s, 50s, and 60s suggested that they now have routines which began as practices; over time the practice became routinized and less intentional or mindful.

The impetus for starting this project was simply:

upon hearing about another person's personal practice:

I was amazed by it and realized:

I had no practices of my own.

What is this blog for?

Someone asked me this today--it's a great question, though one I hadn't initially posed to myself. Here are some possible answers:

-I find idiosyncrasies fascinating
-I tend to think that there are reasons that people do most of the things they do, though there often isn't the need or time or moment to think about those reasons; in discussing this project with people, the reasons behind their personal practices seem to be very important, and therefore very momentous and worth talking out + about; I want to provide a forum for that
-it seems the process of identifying, reflecting on, and examining things that we do that we might consider practices can reveal some very interesting things about us; I want this blog to be an impetus for that kind of reflection//revelation
-because practices like the ones I'm collecting on this blog are also very personal, it seems interesting to ask them (the practices, as they are discovered, written up, and read) what role they play in the life of the person and also what might they tell about the person who made this practice?
-I also wondered what might happen by virtue of collecting many of them in one place, to be read by voyeurs and other posters; would people care? would they be disgusted? would people find commonalities in others' idiosyncracies???
